SAS All Star is #1 Net Profit Sire!
uncategorized
Wednesday 28th of May 2008 08:14:39 AM

A comprehensive profitability test was performed by the University of Illinois in coordination with the American Simmental Association.  Results found Simmental bull, SAS All Star, raised by Springers Simmentals, Cresco, IA and owned by Timberland Ranch, Argonne, WI, to be crowned the #1 Net Profit and #1 Performance Sire of the whole test, which consisted of 40 other Simmental and SimAngus sires.
The All Star progeny exhibited a $99 average profit margin/head over 2 highly proven Angus reference sires that are currently in the top 20% of the Angus breed for $Beef EPD.
Profitability was determined as a result of maximum gain, feed conversion, dressing percent , marbling and yield grade . Results were generated at the University of Illinois research farm in coordination with the American Simmental Association.

Dirty Harry is getting extremely hot.  Eye Candy and Point Taken are the hottest new bulls followed by Cattlelac Jack.  Heat Wave 6 & Mayhem would be included if they were freezing.

Unforgiven & Static X just started freezing. They'll gain steam.

Those who have Apollo calves are saying they look great.  There's not a better TH & PHA free bull available to add muscle shape, bone & hair.

Shiver is gaining steam as a heifer bull producing some great calves.  Don't overlook him.

Naughty Pine is adding hair to everything.

There was an international tour group through Koupal's angus last week, and they said the Balancer progeny were the best that they had seen on the whole tour.  And they have been to all the big time programs.

This is a new Angus bull who many cowboys say is a great looking bull.  We are honored to be able to provide semen on this bull.  He traces back 3 times to the famous GT Miss Traveler 58 cow.  What a front end on this bull!

For you breeders looking to produce calving ease type curvebenders (and it sounds like calving ease bulls are all that bring the interest), this bull should be a real treat.

There is only one other bull in the breed who can match his low BW, high growth, and outstanding carcass merit.

Sample this bull!

Star Power

I had my first Star Power calf over the weekend.  It was a 68 pound heifer calf born unassisted out of a first calf heifer by Perfect Timing.  It is a great looking pair.  Star Power produced a white star on this heifer's head.

Still like my Dream Catcher's too.

Was on the road last week in WI looking at calves with a short bit of turkey hunting.

Wilks' Apollo calves are great.  Apollo removes white & is PHA & TH Free. Adding the bone & muscle of Sun Seeker with better fronts & sounder.  Saw a few Interstate calves there too that look good.  Looked at the Charolais bull RCC Cold Front at Dohertys & he looks great.  Super fronted & high profiled for a Charolais.

Geffert's, breeder of Dirty Harry have a few cool calves as does Lehman.  Dirty Harry will get extremely popular soon.  He makes as good a front ends on clubbies as any bull out there right now, plus they are hairy with muscle.

Went to the GT Angus sale.  The GT Shear Force 559 calves were a good looking group.  This bull could really take off.  They are soggy with muscle shape.

Phil Abrahamson just called me & said he is extremely impressed with the 2T22 cattle.  He is now ratioing 106 for IMF on his most recent performance pedigree.
