Smooth Sailing
uncategorized
Thursday 26th of February 2009 07:44:24 AM

Smooth Sailing will undoubtedly be one of the hottest clubby sires this season.  Kroupa's sale had featured Smooth Sailing lots and Mimms in TX has nothing but great to say about the calves.  So does Bob Hine in SD.

When they're born, they possess more of a Flush look, so they calve relatively easy.  We haven't heard of any calving problems yet.

Smooth Sailing has sired some promotional bulls and winning steers already.

Darkhorse

Here is a list of most of the owners.

Resig, MT; Dave Spencer; Gamble Angus, TN; Michigan State University; Trey Davis, GA; Hermosa Farms, AL; Howard Genetics, OK; Clearwater Farms (Pipkin), MO; Koupal Angus, SD; Polyock Genetics, WI; Ironside Farm & Craig Brown, WV & VA. are most of the owners.  I might be missing a couple.

I don't have all the paperwork yet.

He is already freezing great quality semen.  Get on the list.  I know you'll want to have some of the first calves in the country by DARKHORSE!

Check out the video of our new supersire, LS
Darkhorse at www.limestonellc.com

Lot 4, Darkhorse commanded a $140,000 for 2/3 interest.  He is ultra-complete and ultra awesome!  Reserve your semen today.  $25/unit.

He is docile, completely black, and extra good footed.  Definitely a Raven son you can use on anything with success.

The Answer

Our new Angus addition, The Answer, is already freezing semen in his first week at Nichols CryoGenetics.  Look for him soon on our "NEW" sire list.  He's a cool profiled Final Answer son going back to an 878 X 095 bred cow.  He was on display at the IA Beef Expo where he drew many admirers!

Silveiras El Capitan

Silveiras say that El Capitan has never looked better than he does now.

We're getting great calf reports so far.

_Lance

Ron Meyer in MN says his El Capitans are as stout as Heat Wave calves. 80# bw.

Jim Craig in IL raised a Champion Steer in IL a couple years ago. He says his El Capitan calf is better than that one.

Dusty Henningfeld in WI says his El Capitan calves are a few days early 65-78# bw.

Steve Patton says he's going to flush his two best cows to El Capitan this year. thanks Steve!

Ben Kelly has seen about 10 Point Taken calves.  They look fantastic.  No huge birthweights yet, and they are stout, solid patterned, with lots of hair.

I have had some and testify that they are nice to calve and have not been big. Good pattern, hairy, and have some look. He will paint them up if shorthorn influence in the cows. Really have to appreciate his look as he has matured and calves will be good.

There is a huge buzz on Lut.  Yes, the bull is deceased.  No, there is not much semen left.  He is on special (semen price reduced from $50/unit) for $40/unit from now until March 31.

The first clubby bull to successfully freeze semen this spring to my knowledge is Detour, the powerful Friction son raised by Gefferts, WI & owned with Joe Gensini.

Check him out on our club calf page.  He is THF & PHAF.
