I'm at the IL Beef Expo the next few days.

The BC Lookouts, BC Big Daddys looked good at the Limestone sale.  We leased the lot 1 bull, BC Lookout son who goes back to Right Time X 1137.

The Basic Instinct yearling bulls at Duffs looked great.

Express bulls looked really good.

Raven daughters in production look good at OK State. I like OSU Concept 9108 a bunch, our new bull.

Iowa Beef Expo

IA is, of course, one of the best Expos in the country!! I've been here since 1994 as a vendor...and even longer as a cattle seller with my dad.

Mindy is awesome coordinating the event.  I'm here Wednesday afternoon with the famous Jay & Dani Steenhoek, Bob Gibbs, Tom Rooney, Joel Edge, CJ Brown...the best artist in the world...& my buddy Byron Freeman from Whitewater WI...who happens to be single ....... all you ladies out there.......the sales are holding up pretty good too.

Carl says the Cattlemens Classic at Kearney is going well.  Although he had some bad weather heading out there Monday.

Darkhorse reports

Lance- The Darkhorse calves are extraordinary here! Birth weights are
running in the low to mid 70's and the calves have excellent vigor.
They are jet-black and have a really nice look...Extended thru the
front and appear really square hipped. I'm excited how fast they fill
out and kick it in! THE OLDER CALVES HAVE JUST EXPLODED in terms of
muscle shape and dimension. He is all we hoped for and if the calving
ease stays true, he could make a major curve-bending impact!

He has got to be one of the best Angus bulls I have ever seen!! If you need body, bone, hair, eye appeal, he has it all. I am very confident in saying that all of my maine and clubby female first time heifers are defintally being bred to him. He is defintally my recommendation for a heifer safe bull and a bull that will correct many structure problems!!

Hi Jon,

We are handling Special Edition, which is why I brought him up on my blog.  I like him a bunch!  He's a notch bigger framed and super long fronted.  He'll make great females for pasture & the show ring.

SAV Wall Street

Yes, Cody, Cattle Visions will have SAV Wall Street semen for sale.  Lane Meyer in NE & Semex US beef coordinator says he has heard that they look really good.  I liked the bull a lot at Denver last year, but wasn't sure if his shoulders were too big or not.  Sounds like that is not a problem so far.  That is one thick Angus bull!

Duff Special Edition

Duff Special Edition is a son of New Edition. He'll be on our website soon.  I saw Special Edition at Duff's last year, and he was the soundest, largest framed, biggest boned bull in Duff's offering.  His dam is one of EXT's best daughters, the ZWT donor WK 9375.

Koupals B&B Rest EZ 801

This is a 6.5 frame calving ease sire you must check out! Jeff Goldammer, same owner as the great Balancer bull that we had, loves these Rest EZ calves.  Bud Koupal says this will be a negative 2-3 BW EPD bull.  All calves are under 70#!  I like this pedigree a bunch...says Lance.  Rest EZ is very long, attractive fronted, and thick butted.  This is a bigger frame calving ease sire that you'll really like...guaranteed.

LaVerne Koupal says his Duff Special Edition calves look spectacular!  Jet black, hairy and stout.  Very consistent.  I'm telling you to not overlook this bull!!!! He is ultra sound and long fronted!  He'll make show heifers!  His full sisters are Duff's best!

No. Special Edition is a New Edition son La Verne bought part interest in at Duff's bull sale last spring. I'm not sure who is distributing semen on this bull. On a side note, I absolutely love my New Edition females thus far. First ones due to calve in the next couple of weeks and they look to be beautiful mommas. They could use a little cleaning up front but they are deep, soggy, powerful maternal looking machines.
