A cornerstone of the ORIgen marketing system for the past several years, the first eight daughters of Huckleberry sold for an average of nearly $42,000 as spring heifer calves at the 2022 Vintage “Genetic Gold” sale in California while another from the previous calf crop topped the bred heifer division at the 2022 Nowatzke Angus Sale when she sold for $35,000 with another daughter that recorded one of the highest $Combined value indexes in the 2023 Vintage female sale offering selling for $30,000 as a bred heifer.
A son of Huckleberry from his very first calf crop was the $17,000 top-selling bull calf of the Green Valley Cattle Company Dispersal where 12 bull calves by Huckleberry sold for an average of $7,187 with 13 heifer calves commanding an average of more than $6,300 including a $35,000 sale feature while another son set a $75,000 record for the Mead Angus herd.
The donor dam of Huckleberry is a daughter of the ORIgen record-setter for both semen production and semen sales, the legendary Pathfinder Sire Hoover Dam and she has weaned two natural calves with an average ratio of 110 and as of the start of 2024, 12 progeny scanned from her have an average URE ratio of 105, while his grandam is the full sister to Sitz Upward that sold half interest for $195,000 and produced countless herd sire sons and top-selling daughters at Deer Valley, Express and Pollard Farms including the long-time ORIgen marketing sires EXAR Stetson, lead bull a Grand Champion Carload of Angus Bulls and EXAR Resistol, the anchor bull of that same carload.
