Ledger is anchored by two great cow families whose AICA Dams of Distinction solidify his breeding value. This docile bull may well be Bravos replacement. Ledger was the record-selling bull at $105,000 in the 2011 LT Ranch Bull Sale. His dam was LT Brenda 6120 PLD, from the prolific LT Brenda cow family (LT Brenda 1014 and LT Brenda Ease 3055). His sire was LT Bluegrass 4017 P. With over 8,000 registered calves in multiple countries and thousands of commercial progenies, Ledger was admired by many Charolais breeders as well as different beef breeders who visited the LT Ranch headquarters over the years. Ledger had proven himself to be a Charolais breed leader for many years.
Unfortunately, he left us at the young age of eight. Derry Wright from Wright Charolais put it well using baseball terms: Ledger was not a home run but rather an out-of-the-park home run as a leading, purebred-Charolais bull.
Brent Thiel from LT Ranch and J & J Trust Charolais both know that a bull like Ledger seldom comes along over the course of a herd’s lifetime; even fewer have an impact on the breed like he did.
